Hundreds of federal judges have faced threats this year, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. These threats target judges and their families and have emerged during a period when President Trump and his administration have publicly criticized judges who ruled against them.
Justice correspondent Ali Rogin discussed the situation with Judge John McConnell, who has encountered numerous threats, and Judge Esther Salas. Both judges have recognized the increasing hostility directed at the judiciary.
Ali Rogin is known for her work with PBS NewsHour, specializing in the Supreme Court and America’s judicial system. Her accolades include a Peabody Award in 2021 for a series on the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, she has received two Edward R. Murrow Awards and has been part of Emmy-nominated teams for significant events such as the fall of ISIS in 2020 and the Las Vegas mass shooting in 2017.
