Former BYU Cougars football player Curtis Brown and his family are mourning the loss of their two-year-old son, Haze, who died in a drowning accident at their home in Clovis, California. The incident occurred on July 26, as confirmed by police to the New York Post.
The tragedy prompted Chandler Pearson, a family friend, to start a GoFundMe page to support the Brown family. Pearson described the situation as an “unimaginable loss” for Curtis, his wife Kim, and their family.

The New York Post reported that a family member discovered Haze unresponsive in the pool. Emergency services, including police, EMTs, and firefighters, arrived and attempted CPR, but they could not revive Haze. He was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Clovis Police Department spokesman Ty Wood emphasized the importance of supervision around water, stating, Adults should never let children swim unsupervised and should always learn CPR and keep rescue equipment nearby.
Curtis Brown and his wife have five children: son Trey and triplets Cruze, Julie, and Kash.
Brown had a notable football career, playing five seasons with the BYU Cougars from 2002 to 2006. He gained attention in 2004 with 789 yards and six touchdowns. Leading the Mountain West Conference in 2005, he recorded 14 rushing touchdowns and 1,123 yards.
By the end of his college career, Brown amassed 3,241 rushing yards and 1,309 receiving yards with 36 touchdowns over 52 games. He signed with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2007 as an undrafted free agent but was released before the regular season began.
BYU has not yet commented on the incident. Fox News Digital contacted the university but did not receive a response.
