Major Jason Watson, a U.S. airman, is now facing criminal charges following his public actions calling for the impeachment of President Donald Trump. The events leading to these charges began with his arrest in July at the U.S. Capitol.
On August 18, Watson was placed into pretrial confinement. By Monday, authorities had criminally charged him for these actions. The charges were detailed in a document shared by his attorney, which was reported by CNN.
Watson is charged with multiple violations under the Uniform Code of Military Justice:
- Three charges under Article 88 for allegedly making “contemptuous” remarks about President Trump
- Five charges under Article 92 for allegedly disobeying orders
- Two charges under Article 133 for alleged conduct unbecoming an officer
