Vance Fuels 2028 Buzz with Potential Support from Trump

JD Vance, the Vice President of the United States, has sparked interest in the 2028 presidential race. He mentioned that former President Donald Trump would be supportive of his future political endeavors. Vance and his wife plan to make decisions regarding their political future after the mid-term elections. These remarks have intensified speculation on who might continue the America First movement after Trump’s final term.

In his recent book, Communion, Vance reflected on a past controversial comment. He labeled it as “one of the dumbest” things he had said, according to NBC News. During a 2021 appearance on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Vance criticized Democratic leadership with a comment about “childless cat ladies” running the country. He referenced then-Vice President Kamala Harris, then-Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in his statement. Notably, Harris has two adult stepchildren. Vance suggested that individuals without children have control in areas where they lack a direct stake.

Vance also described his routine family time as “sacred.” During a visit to the “Hannity” show on Fox News, he highlighted spending purposeful hours daily with his family. Buttigieg and his husband Chasten had announced plans to adopt, welcoming two children, Penelope Rose and Joseph August Buttigieg. This news followed Vance’s earlier comments and added context to his criticism of childlessness in Democratic leadership.

Vance openly addressed his use of provocative language in his book, calling it a mistake. He acknowledged that the comment created two controversies. The first occurred upon its initial mention, and the second surfaced years later during a campaign. He conceded that the remark diverted attention from his actual point about society’s growing adversity towards family growth.

Vance took office as a U.S. Senator in early 2023 following his election in 2022. In 2024, Trump selected Vance as his vice-presidential candidate, leading to his vice-presidency start in 2025. Reflecting on the backlash from his comments, Vance realized the need to express his views more charitably. He highlighted that some individuals remain childless due to circumstances beyond their control. As a Catholic, he recognized his failure to uphold respect for all lives, a principle emphasized by the Church.
