Vinatieri, who played under Belichick from 2000 to 2005, credited the coach for demanding excellence. ‘Your preparation, discipline, and attention to detail shaped far more than my football career,’ he said. However, he jested about Belichick’s absence from the ceremony, attributing it to other commitments at UNC and a cheerleading competition tied to Belichick’s partner, Jordon Hudson.
