Taylor Fresh Foods, the company behind Taylor Farms, is recalling certain products containing jalapeños over salmonella contamination concerns. This decision follows the earlier recall of iceberg lettuce products from central Mexico linked to a cyclospora outbreak affecting people across the United States.
The company stated that they initiated the recall after learning that Coast Citrus Distributors had voluntarily recalled fresh jalapeños due to potential salmonella risks. Affected prepared foods include guacamole, pico de gallo, and taco dip. These products were distributed by Taylor Farms in several states and carry a ‘Best If Used By’ date up to and including August 16, 2026. Retailers such as Kroger, Stop & Shop, Target, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Walmart sold these items.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are collaborating with state and local partners to investigate the salmonella outbreak. A grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, supplying Coast Citrus Distributors, has been identified as a potential source. Taylor Fresh Foods has stopped sourcing from this grower and is now using alternative suppliers.
As of now, Taylor Fresh Foods reports no known illnesses linked to their jalapeño-containing products. Consumers are advised to immediately discard any recalled products and not consume them. Refunds are available at the place of purchase.
