NFL training camps are underway, and fans are excited as teams prepare for the upcoming season. The preseason started, and the regular season will begin on Sept. 9. As we gear up, let’s examine offseason developments and rank the tight end groups in the AFC South.
1. Indianapolis Colts
The Colts feature a strong tight end lineup with Tyler Warren, Will Mallory, Mo Alie-Cox, and Drew Ogletree. Warren, a top draft pick in 2025, impressed as a rookie with 76 receptions, 817 yards, and four touchdowns. His performance has positioned him among the elite young tight ends in the league. Mallory, Alie-Cox, and Ogletree contribute effectively as depth players.
2. Houston Texans
Dalton Schultz leads the Texans’ tight ends, known for consistent performance since 2020. He secured 82 catches and 777 yards last year and aims for similar success in 2026. Cade Stover supports with solid backup contributions, averaging around 15 catches and 120 yards. Brevin Jordan has faced injuries but remains a potential asset as a third option.
3. Tennessee Titans
With Chig Okonkwo now in Washington, the focus is on Gunnar Helm for 2026. Helm was productive last year with 44 catches, 357 yards, and two touchdowns, outperforming Okonkwo. Daniel Bellinger joins from the Giants, bringing 88 career catches, 934 yards, and four touchdowns, making him an ideal backup for Helm.
4. Jacksonville Jaguars
Brenton Strange leads the Jaguars’ tight ends following a 2025 season with 46 receptions, 540 yards, and three touchdowns. While not matching Evan Engram’s impact, his role complements Jacksonville’s deep wide receiver group, reducing the need for high tight end production. The team drafted Nate Boerkircher and Tanner Koziol in 2026, planning multiple tight end formations.
