Allegations Emerge Against Maine Senate Candidate

Shortly after Graham Platner was named the Democratic Senate nominee in Maine, a woman alleged that she dated him in 2021, detailing her experiences on social media. She described meeting Platner on the Tinder app, claimed infidelity, and discussed changes in Platner’s explanation about a controversial tattoo.

The accuser, using the handle 420mercymain69, claimed, “I am stepping forward as someone who has experienced lying and manipulation by his hand, joining a growing number of women with similar stories.” She stated her initial attraction to Platner’s Tinder profile was due to his appearance and leftist stance.

Platner has faced multiple allegations concerning his conduct with romantic partners, adding to ongoing scandals that have affected his campaign. He officially became the Democratic nominee earlier this week, challenging incumbent Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine.

According to the accuser, who sees herself as a well-informed leftist from Maryland, she and Platner began communicating on Tinder in February 2021 and dated until mid-July 2021. She recounted a story regarding Platner’s Totenkopf tattoo, a symbol associated with the Nazi SS. Platner allegedly told her he got the tattoo in ignorance but kept it as a reminder that the U.S. is often seen as “the bad guys” globally. This narrative, she said, supported her view of his ideology, though it differed from what he told voters in Maine.

“Graham’s repeatedly said he picked a skull-and-crossbones tattoo off a wall in Croatia to commemorate surviving Ramadi and his friends who were killed there,” a Platner campaign spokesperson informed Fox News. “Graham has also since covered the tattoo, answering numerous questions about it.”

In addition to the tattoo controversy, 420mercymain69 accused Platner of infidelity. She indicated their relationship ended after learning from a mutual friend about Platner’s involvement with someone else while they were dating. She clarified that she left after realizing Platner spoke of another woman as “the love of his life,” while he was engaged to someone named “Jen.” She further alleged that Platner was unfaithful with a third woman.

“She walked in on him with another person at a D.C. wedding. I was asked if I would contact her,” she recounted.

The New York Post reportedly confirmed aspects of her story. However, Fox News Digital could not independently verify the claims. The accuser asserted she did not aim to derail Platner’s campaign but wished to express concerns about his character.

Platner supporter Ro Khanna described his past relationships as “toxic” but argued he deserves “redemption.” Platner addressed supporters at a YMCA in Blue Hill, Maine, following his Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate.

“There will be more information to come,” the accuser claimed. “If I were a Maine voter, I would hesitate to support him due to trust issues.”

She noted disappointment with how some people were dismissing the allegations and criticized the treatment of women’s experiences and domestic violence concerns.
