A Canadian woman was arrested by Florida deputies during a traffic stop after allegedly providing a false name and possessing 12 fraudulent identification cards. The incident took place in Tampa on July 29, as revealed by body camera footage released by Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister.
The video footage shows deputies stopping a vehicle with non-functioning taillights and tag lights. The driver, identified as Bryce Swanson, 28, initially claimed her name was Brianna Valenzuela and stated she had a driver’s license but did not have it with her.
Swanson told deputies she did not have an ID and had never possessed a valid driver’s license, after initially claiming she did. A search of her vehicle revealed 12 driver’s licenses with her picture, but different names and dates of birth.
Authorities confirmed Swanson is a Canadian national who overstayed her visa. The body camera footage shows a deputy questioning Swanson about her identity, as she claimed to be visiting Florida from New York in a rental car.
Swanson stated, “I live in New York. I’m here in Florida literally just visiting friends and stuff right now.” Despite her assertion, she had no New York identification, prompting further questions from the deputy.
“Your story’s not making a lot of sense to me, right?” the deputy remarked. “You say you live in New York, but you don’t have any ID in New York.” Swanson admitted, “I’ve never had a driver’s license or anything like that,” before deputies discovered numerous fraudulent IDs during the vehicle search.
One deputy noted, “All these are fake,” before arresting Swanson. She was booked into the Orient Road Jail, facing charges of driving without a valid license and giving a false name to law enforcement.
Due to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer, Swanson is held without bond according to jail records. Fox News Digital has reached out to ICE for further comments.
