The New York Mets faced another challenge with star player Juan Soto leaving a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers due to injury. The game, held on Friday evening, saw the Dodgers visit following their trip to the White House.
An actress, Emma Stone, was also present, shooting a movie and found time to converse with Soto before the game. This light moment might have been the highlight for Soto that evening.
The 27-year-old Soto, who had drawn two walks, exited the game in the sixth inning. His left calf injury had been an ongoing concern since July 16. Mets management had previously allowed Soto time to recover earlier in the week.
Prior to the game, interim manager Andy Green expressed optimism, quoted on MLB.com saying, “It’s improving for him. Hopefully after today, we don’t have to talk about it anymore.” Despite this hope, Soto’s injury remains a concern, with Mets fans responding to the news on social media.
Soto’s absence is significant as he is the Mets’ only All-Star this season. His current stats stand at a .283 batting average with 83 hits and 21 home runs over 84 games. Signed at $765 million for 15 years from December 2024, Soto’s presence is vital to the team.
