Kevin Pollak, known for his role in “Tulsa King,” reminisced about working alongside Rip Torn on the film “Canadian Bacon,” which starred John Candy. During an appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show,” Pollak shared memorable stories about Torn’s unpredictable behavior on set.
Pollak highlighted Torn’s idiosyncratic conduct, noting how Torn believed daily that someone from the cast or crew was against him. He frequently mentioned his inclusion on former President Richard Nixon’s enemies list, a topic he brought up almost every day.
“Every day Rip would decide someone in the cast or crew was out to get him,” Pollak recalled.
Torn’s eccentricity extended beyond the film set to his accommodations. Pollak recounted how actors Kevin O’Connor and his new wife, staying next door to Torn at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto, frequently overheard Torn shouting through the walls. The couple compiled a list of Torn’s most memorable lines, with the top quote being “I said milk it like a cow.”
Rip Torn’s career spanned film, television, and theater, marked by an Academy Award nomination for his performance in “Cross Creek.” He became a familiar face to audiences through roles in “Men in Black” and “The Larry Sanders Show,” where he earned six consecutive Emmy nominations and won an Emmy Award in 1996.
