NATO deployed fighter jets after an unmanned aerial vehicle raised concerns near Romania. Tensions heighten as many fear the conflict between Russia and Ukraine might extend into NATO regions.
On Tuesday, Romania’s defense ministry reported that two F-18 jets from the Spanish Air and Space Force were launched from Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base 57. The response followed the detection of an aerial target approximately two miles east of Vylkove, a location on Ukraine’s border with Romania.
Authorities cautioned residents in northern Tulcea County about potential falling debris and advised them to seek safety. The defense ministry did not clarify if the drone had breached Romanian airspace.
