The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Thursday that they have not received any contact from Mexican authorities regarding an anonymous tip. The tip suggested a possible search for Nancy Guthrie in Mexico.

Ramona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, head of Buscando Corazones Nogales, stated the group obtained information about a grave that might belong to Guthrie. The 84-year-old Guthrie’s body might be located in the Mariposa area near Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, according to reports by 12 News. Buscando Corazones Nogales focuses on finding missing people within Mexico.

Sheriff Chris Nanos issued a statement on social media. He acknowledged the reports of the anonymous tips concerning Guthrie.

“At this time, we have not been contacted by Mexican authorities,” Nanos said. “This investigation remains active and ongoing, and we will continue to follow up on any credible information.”

Border Protocols Initiated in Search

Nancy Guthrie disappeared from Tucson, Arizona, in early February 2026. Authorities suspect abduction but have no proof of her crossing the southern border.

Doorbell footage captured a masked man wearing gloves at her home’s entrance around the time of her disappearance. An individual wearing a mask also approached the home three weeks prior. A split image shows Sheriff Chris Nanos addressing the press about the abduction, alongside a photo of Guthrie playing mahjong.

Her back door was found open when police arrived, suggesting possible multiple perpetrators.

Ransom notes were allegedly sent to TMZ and local outlets, though no arrests have been made.
