The New York Giants faced a 34-27 defeat against the New Orleans Saints in their Week 6 game. Following this, the Giants made a significant roster change. They released Jihad Ward, a former NFL second-round pick, as reported by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
The decision to release Ward comes shortly after his acquisition from the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad. At 32 years old, Ward is now seeking new opportunities following his departure from the Giants.
This season, Ward played in two games with the Giants. During those appearances, he recorded one solo tackle. Previously, he had a noteworthy season with the Tennessee Titans, achieving five sacks and 31 combined tackles over 17 games.
Ward’s extensive experience in the NFL makes him a potential asset for teams requiring seasoned players. Throughout his 11-year career, he has played in 138 games, accumulating 24 sacks and 200 combined tackles. Teams needing depth might consider adding such a veteran to their roster.
