Lionel Richie Expresses Gratitude After Stage Health Scare

Lionel Richie recently expressed his appreciation to fans following a health issue that forced him to cancel several concerts. The 77-year-old artist shared some Instagram images that captured his joyful moments on stage and thanked fans for their supportive messages and kindness.

Richie wrote, “Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love. I’m doing well, and I’m grateful for all of you.” He continued to share his excitement for upcoming shows, stating, “Pittsburgh and Detroit were an absolute joy. The energy, the dancing, the faces in the crowd… we made real memories together.” He ended his message with, “See you in Toronto… let’s party all night long!”

Only a week earlier, Richie was less optimistic. He postponed concerts due to feeling “dizzy” at the tour-opening performance in Minnesota. An announcement from the United Center revealed that his shows in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio, had been canceled on the advice of doctors, ensuring Richie could rest and recuperate.

“Under advisement by doctors to rest and return to full health, Lionel Richie has postponed his next two shows,” read an Instagram post. “Lionel is heartbroken to postpone these two shows and cannot wait to be back performing for his fans.”

A representative from the St. Paul Fire Department confirmed to Fox News Digital that an individual was transported from Grand Casino Arena to a nearby hospital on the night of June 24, 2026.

During his Grand Casino Arena concert, fans observed a noticeable change in Richie as he performed “Dancing on the Ceiling”. He paused, took a seat, and informed the audience of his lightheadedness, joking, “When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your a– down.” Richie then provided a seated rendition of “Three Times a Lady” at the piano before departing the stage.

An update regarding the show’s cancellation was delivered long after Richie’s intermission, leaving fans waiting for nearly 40 minutes.

Richie, who has been an “American Idol” judge since 2018, is enthusiastic about resuming his performances, showcasing his resilience and dedication to his fans.
