Authorities on Wednesday identified a suspect involved in a shooting near Toledo’s Old West End Festival that injured 12 people. They are also searching for a second gunman.
The Toledo Police Department is conducting a manhunt for Ka Nye Taylor. He faces 11 counts of felonious assault related to the June 6 incident at the Old West End Festival, known for live music, food vendors, and home tours. Taylor is described as a Black male, standing about 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing around 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Police have released an image of a second potential shooter who remains unidentified. Authorities responded to reports of the shooting near Delaware Avenue and Glenwood Avenue at approximately 5:37 p.m. Saturday, close to the festival’s location. Upon arrival, officers found multiple victims with gunshot wounds. All 12 are in stable condition. The victims, aged between 14 and 61, are predominantly in their early 20s.
Investigators urge anyone with information regarding Taylor’s whereabouts or details about the second suspect to reach out to Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111. A reward of up to $15,000 is available for information leading to arrests. Crime Stoppers offers $10,000, while the U.S. Marshals Service adds $5,000.
Toledo Deputy Chief Joseph Heffernan stated that two shooters were likely involved and might have exchanged gunfire. The shootout followed a chase and conflict between rival groups at the festival. Authorities have linked the violence to a dispute between the factions.
Lucas County Prosecutor Julia Bates assured resolute legal action earlier this week. She emphasized her dedication to those affected by this crime, declaring that it’s personal as Toledo is her community.
