On Sunday, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence led his team to a decisive 22-17 win against Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals. This game marked a career milestone for Lawrence, who had never defeated the Bengals since starting his NFL career in 2021. With this victory, Lawrence has now triumphed over all other teams in the AFC during his tenure in the league.
During the hard-fought game, Lawrence showcased his skills by completing 18 of 23 passes, totaling 227 yards, and achieving one touchdown. Despite the Bengals’ Joe Burrow throwing for an impressive 428 yards and securing a touchdown, he also faced two interceptions. Burrow’s efforts were further hampered by the loss of Ja’Marr Chase, one of their leading offensive players, who was sidelined due to a concussion in the first half.

Trevor Lawrence is enjoying a strong start this season, countering critics who predicted challenges in retaining his starting position. He concluded the previous season with his best record, guiding the Jaguars to a 13-4 finish, and securing both the AFC South title and a playoff berth. If Lawrence propels his team to the NFL Playoffs again, it would be his third career appearance, further undermining previous doubts about his suitability as Jacksonville’s quarterback.
The Jaguars currently lead their division with a 3-1 record, indicating another promising season. Lawrence has accumulated 616 passing yards and is tied for fifth in the league with seven touchdown passes. His completion rate of 73.3% also ranks him fifth, highlighting his strong performance. The former Clemson standout boasts career-best statistics with a QBR and a 107.8 passer rating.
After last season’s achievements, the Jaguars are considered serious contenders in the AFC. However, many games are left to solidify their position. Their upcoming schedule includes a home game against the NFC’s Philadelphia Eagles (2-2) on Sunday, Oct. 11, followed by a matchup with the Houston Texans (0-4) on Sunday, Oct. 18, both of which are favorable for Jacksonville.
